The world-renown pianist and harpsichordist Edith Picht-Axenfeld also played an important role as an educator, leaving her mark on the 20th century music-world. This album contains all 6 Partitas superbly performed by her, who has been particularly noted for playing Bach. Picht-Axenfeld, who personifies the tradition of European music, fully expresses herself in the authentic and lively performance, and gently enfolds listeners. The recording in an aristocrat's old castle located between Freiburg and Basel, where she took her favourite harpsichord, re-enact the whole atmosphere of the manor to this day.
